Diabetic Shoes

Caldwell Prosthetics and Orthotics offers a full line of both off-the-shelf and custom Diabetic shoes and inserts.

We are participating provider for the Medicare Therapeutic Shoe Program and also provide shoes under most private insurance programs.

Diabetic shoes are now lighter, more stylish with more variety than ever.

Diabetic shoes and inserts are covered under Medicare and most insurance policies as long as certain criteria are met and your physician completes Medicare required forms.

Medicare and most private insurances operate on the same system of payment.

Patients do not qualify for diabetic shoes just because they have been diagnosed with diabetes.

Diabetic patients only qualify for diabetic shoes when their physician determines they have one or more of the following conditions:

  • History of partial or complete amputation of the foot
  • History of previous foot ulceration
  • History of pre-ulcerative callus
  • Peripheral neuropathy with evidence of callus formation
  • Foot deformity
  • Poor circulation

Medicare and most private insurances provide one of the following every calendar year:

  • 1 pair of off-the-shelf depth shoes and 3 additional pairs of multi-density inserts.
  • 1 pair of off-the-shelf depth shoes with a modification, and 2 additional pairs of multi-density inserts.
  • 1 pair of custom-molded shoes and 2 additional pair of multi-density inserts.
